Mercurius Vivus is a fundamental homeopathic remedy prepared from elemental mercury. It is a major remedy for acute and chronic conditions marked by intense inflammation, profuse foul discharges, and profound weakness. It is a key medicine for infections, especially of the mucous membranes, throat, and glands.
Keynotes
All discharges are foul and excoriating; marked aggravation at night and from extremes of temperature; tongue flabby, showing teeth impressions; patient feels both hot and cold.
Constitution
Often thin, weak individuals with low vitality and a tendency to profuse, foul perspiration. May have a history of suppressed discharges or mercury/syphilis exposure.

● Physical Symptoms
Throat: dark red, swollen, ulcerated tonsils. Mouth: spongy, bleeding gums, foul metallic taste, excessive saliva. Glands: swollen, hard, painful. Skin: moist, pustular eruptions, ulcers with jagged edges. Extremities: trembling, weakness.
Uses
Tonsillitis, pharyngitis, abscesses, gum disease, sinusitis, otitis media, skin ulcers, dysentery, prostatitis, syphilitic and mercurial disorders
Modalities
Worse: at night, in damp cold weather, from sweating, from extremes of hot and cold, lying on right side. Better: moderate temperature, rest.

Recommended Dosage
